EZAE will support the Basque premieres through the campaign Passengers to the cinema!

EZAE, the Association of Cinemas of Euskadi, relaunches the 'Passengers to the cinema!' Campaign with an important novelty: in its fourth edition it will focus on supporting Basque cinema. Thus, this initiative that thanks to the collaboration between EZAE and Zineuskadi and the funding of the Basque Government will be launched in 62 rooms throughout Euskadi, will allow two euros discount to the viewers of at least seven Basque productions. These films will reach the big screen between the last quarter of 2018 and the first half of 2019, although it is not ruled out that new titles will be included. The multiplexes will limit this aid to the week of the premiere of the film, while the municipal rooms will apply the discount during the first two weeks.

After the success of the first three editions of 'Passengers to the cinema!', Which encouraged the consumption of Basque and European cinema through a bonus on the price of tickets and that last year benefited more than 20,000 spectators from all of Euskadi, The association of exhibitors has decided to extend the duration of the initiative to support a greater number of Basque productions. In this way, 'Passengers to the cinema!' Will start this Friday October 5 with Oreina and, on the way out, it will include another half dozen Basque films that will arrive in theaters in the coming months. Depending on the development of the campaign, it is not ruled out that in the coming months new titles will be added to this list of promoted productions.

The campaign, which is being held for the fourth year in a row, is already an initiative known among Basque moviegoers. In addition to promoting the Basque and European cultural creation, this initiative sponsored by the Basque Government through Zineuskadi also aims to promote the attendance of the public to movie theaters, the best possible scenario to enjoy a film. In fact, the promotion of cinematic consumption in cinemas and the recognition of the cultural work of cinematic exhibition halls are some of the main objectives of EZAE, together with the promotion of Basque and European cinema, and the diffusion of the cinematographic arts .

Promoted movies
The first film with a discount will be Oreina, a film directed by San Sebastian filmmaker Koldo Almandoz who has participated in the 'New Directors' section of the Zinemaldia and has won the Irizar Award for Basque Cinema. Despite having premiered on September 28, the multiplexes of the association will include it in the promotion and will apply two euros discount from October 5 to 12, and small rooms will extend the aid until the 19th.

After Oreina, it will be the turn of Un día más con vida, an animated film that participated in the last Cannes Film Festival and has won the Audience Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival, which will premiere on October 26. A little later, at the beginning of November, Julio Medem's latest work, The Tree of Blood: and Dantza, winner of the first edition of the Glocal in Progress Awards, will be released on December 21 and will also be released on the big screen. It will be promoted. At the beginning of 2019 the son of the accordionist will be released, and the list will be completed with two major releases that will arrive in March: Vitoria, March 3 and Elcano, the first round the world.

EZAE's eight partners, totaling 17 cinemas and 62 theaters in Gipuzkoa, Bizkaia and Álava, have joined the campaign this time.
