The San Sebastian Festival, which will take place from September 21st to 29th, will host the Basque Audiovisual brand for the first time within the framework of the Europe-Latin America Co-production Forum thanks to the collaboration of Zineuskadi with the Etxepare Institute and Eiken Cluster.
In this space, housed in the area of the Cloister of the San Telmo Museum from September 24th to 26th, a catalog will be distributed with 60 film projects of which 24 are in development, 15 are in some production phase and 21 have been finalized and / or premiered from September 2017 until today. In total, the publication includes the work of 42 companies: Adabaki Ekoizpenak, Altube Filmeak, Amania Films, Audiovisual Area, Communication Arena, Communication Archetype, Atera Films, Bainet TV, Baleuko, Basque Films, Barton Films, Blogmedia, Demeter Films, Dibulitoon Studio, Doxa Productions, Dynamite Films, Einarte Produkzioak, Esrec, Euskadi Movie AIE, Fragil Cinema, Gastibeltza, Haruru ilmak, Irusoin, Izar Films, Kanaki Films, Komiki Films, Kubelik Films, Lamia Productions, Laniakea, Last Horse Studio, Leize Productions , Lumiere Produkzioak, Marmoka Films, Pimpi & Nella Films, Sayaka Productions, Sincro Production and Image, Sonora Studios, Sr & Sra Producciones, Talka Films, Taui Media, Txintxua Films and Zinema Varietés.
Among the most outstanding Basque projects are the twenty films distributed in the different sections of the Festival: Official Section (Dantza), New Directors (Oreina), Zabaltegi-Tabakalera (592 meters goiti), Pearls (Another Day of Life), Culinary Zinema (Y en cada lenteja un Dios, Bihar dok 13), Zinemira (Mudar la piel, Black is Beltza, Bajo la piel del lobo, Basque Selfie, Baúles, Errementari, Gallo, Gure Oroitzapenak, Izaro, Lady Off, La noche nos lelva, Margolaria) and the Galas of Basque cinema (Jainkoak ez dit barkatzen) and Eitb (Vitoria, March 3).
Moreover, Gariza Films will participate in the Europe-Latin America Co-production Forum with the project "Ane & Peio, maitasun istorio bat piper artean" directed by Lara Izagirre. Ane & Peio is a road trip that will become a great adventure in which Ane, secretly goes to find Peio, his first love, which he has not seen since he was 12 years old.
Since 2014, the Industry Department has been organising the Focus on, an industry initiative under which a group of professionals from a territory comes to the San Sebastian Festival to expand their network of professional contacts and participate in the Industry activities. On this occasion, a delegation of fifteen producers from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will come to San Sebastian to meet Basque professionals in an informal co-production meeting organized from Zineuskadi through the network Glocal Cinema.
On the other hand, thanks to the Zinema Euskaraz program promoted by Zineuskadi, the Movies for Kids section will screen a selection of films designed for children that will be offered exclusively dubbed in Euskara at the Trueba Cinemas in San Sebastián (Oihaneko Kuadrila, Maya Erlea-Ezti jokoak, Richard Zinkoina, Sagu & Pagu: altxor Handia eta Ninjago Lego). In addition, the Velodrome will screen Paddington 2 also dubbed into Basque every morning.
