From June 25 to 28, the French city of La Rochelle will host the Sunny Side of the Doc, the main international documentary market to which a large representation of the Basque audiovisual sector will once again come under the Basque Audiovisual brand, created and promoted by the Eiken (Basque Audiovisual Cluster), Zineuskadi and the Etxepare Basque Institute.
It is an unmissable event for the sector that every year brings together more than 2000 professionals from 60 countries. Distributors, buyers, creators, producers and other agents of the documentary market come to Sunny Side of the Doc to publicize their proposals, access new markets, seek funding or partners to develop their projects and learn about the latest trends in the sector.
The Basque companies of the sector find in this fair an appropriate scenario to present their audiovisual projects and access potential buyers from the main international markets.
In this edition, 12 Basque companies will come to the French city: Altube Filmeak, Arena Communication, Bainet Zinema, Gastibeltza Filmak, Haruru Filmak, Irusoin, Marmoka Films, Mirokutana, Sincro Production, Sonora Studios, Sr and Sra and Taui Media. The Lau Haizetara documentary co-production forum will also be represented, which each year organizes Ibaia (Association of Independent Audiovisual Producers of the Basque Country) within the framework of the San Sebastian Festival and the Iparralde Kanaldude television.
Staff of the Basque Institute Etxepare, Eiken and Zineuskadi will accompany the Basque companies in the Basque Audiovisual stand, where a catalog will also be distributed that compiles a total of 32 documentary projects of which 13 are under development, 9 are in some production phase and 10 have been finalized and / or premiered.
The objective of this action promoted by Eiken, Zineuskadi and the Etxepare Basque Institute is to give visibility and consolidate the Basque audiovisual industry as a powerful brand, recognizable in external markets for its quality and the innovation of its products.
Cholitas, selected for pitching
For four days Sunny Side of the Doc organizes a long series of activities that include panel discussions, networking events or pitching sessions in which 42 projects from 11 countries will be presented. Cholitas project of the production company Arena Comunicación, has been selected for the pitching of projects of social and human interest. Its creators, Jaime Murciego and Pablo Iraburu, will have the opportunity to present their work on Tuesday to more than 350 producers, distributors and international agents.
